Job Description
Award winning vehicle safety manufacturer now requires an Application Technician to support their global sales force and application engineering teams maximizing the potential of existing products or modifying existing products to promote both current and new business.
Our client is looking for someone with strong automotive/electrical installation experience to come “off the tools” to assist in delivering bespoke versions of electronic safety components and capture customer requirements, translate them into technical requirements and deliver solutions that meet the customer’s expectations.
The role:
- Support the engineering team ensuring all core products are suitable for our client’s market applications and to ensure exceptional service.
- Assist the Product Development team with protype installations on our client’s test vehicle’s. (Installation responsibilities will be retained)
- Provide exceptional customer service focused on the aftermarket and OEM customers.
- Liaise with customers and suppliers to develop solutions to application problems/opportunities.
- Preparation of project documentation including 2 & 3D CAD technical drawings, BoM’s, system schematics, specifications, and installation instructions. (Product drawings and engineering drawings).
- Troubleshooting and providing product application support to customers.
About you:
- Minimum 3 years workshop based, or field based automotive installation experience (Electronics/Telematics and CCTV automotive installations are desirable).
- Knowledge of vehicle electrical system installation techniques. (Installation on commercial vehicles would be desirable e.g HGV).
- Must demonstrate basic knowledge of DC circuits and analogue and digital electronics.
- Use of electronic test equipment and tools (Multimeter or oscilloscope)
- Strong exposure to AutoCAD (2d) or similar and MS Office Suite.
- High level of communication skills with a practical attitude and methodical approach to detail.
- Experience in OEM practices (knowledge of OEM line-fit processes and procedures is desirable).
In terms of office location, this role is based in Dartford, with 3 days per week on-site and the rest working remotely. Occasional travel to our clients’ international offices may be required.
This role provides a base salary of £35,000 plus bonus and excellent benefits package.
