Job Summary
As a Field Applications Engineer, you will provide technical support and select suitable protection or electrical switching solutions to key strategic customers, comprising of new product development and application service activities.
Job Responsibilities
- Plan and execute technical application projects by generating technical proposals and documentation to support specific
and customised applications.
- Offer technical support to key functions within the organisation including Sales, Product Managers, Engineers and also
external customers.
- Communicate technology trends and market feedback derived from customer queries to the Product Manager
- Coordinate high and low-power product testing as required
- Provide technical training and product familiarisation to internal teams and external customers
- Support the development of customised products for specific customer applications. Coordinate among customers, design
engineers, sales and product management teams to deliver concepts through design and development to long-term
manufacture.
- Work closely with the Global Engineering team to standardise on systems and processes to allow effective collaboration
across all engineering groups
- Responsible for the maintenance of product literature, including printed and electronic formats.
- Support and develop programs and promotional activities to strengthen market position for sustained product lines as
directed by the Product Manager.
- May offer commercial and engineering proposals to Product Management and the engineering lead to allow them to make
decisions based on sound analytical evaluation of an investment opportunity.
- Have a general understanding of current company manufacturing technologies and relies on manufacturing engineering to
stay abreast of the latest technologies.
- Able to understand and implement customisation requests.
- Spend time researching complex applications in parallel to the approach of his/her daily tasks and activities
Qualifications Education level required
Degree or high level qualification in Power Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Computer Science related fields.
Years And Area Of Experience Required
- Previous experience with technical support or in electrical environment would be desirable but not essential.
- Customer facing experience and commercial mindset is desirable, but not essential.
- Customer requirements capture and project leadership experience is desirable
- University graduates will be considered.
Technical knowledge
- Overview of agency standards, code requirements, industry practices and present product performance capabilities.
- Basic understanding of markets and customers and works with the Product Management and the sales team to support
technical challenges.
Soft Skills
- Excellent communication skills, good time management and self-motivation are essential.
- Capable of working on his/her own initiative or within a team to accomplish objectives without a direct reporting
relationship.
Expected salary: £70000 – 90000 per year
